Being a Vet, I would not easily recommend military service to anyone, but you know I'm thinking Levi might be safer in the Mid East.

The best way to be a dad is to desert your child and get yourself shot, wounded, or traumatized killing and seeing people killed? Bullshit.

I think Levi probably already knows more than a little about the sweat of fear.

Oh yeah, Phil, that's just what this kid needs to do is go out where poeple are shooting guns! He could meet up with friendly fire in no time and a press time for the Palins. Bristol in black, weeping for her child's father, blubbering how much she really loved him, the Johnstons saying that she didn't and was a selfish prig, the Palin d'arse herself looking grave and sad and saying something about her grief being as big as the mighty Yukon.

Sorry, I don't buy this one bit. As a veteran myself, I can not believe that a young man as immature and confused as Levi Johnson is remotely capable of making a decision to enlist in the military. The other commenters have said it well "funkalunatic" in particular.

I posted this because the gentleman doing it is trying to shake some sense into Levi's head. Watching Levi being interviewed this weekend in his brand new pickup truck, fumbling for words, seemingly without direction, I thought this interesting video would be worthwhile to post.

I'm glad it is inspiring people to make comments.

I'm an Army Veteran from the same period as Mr. Post. I volunteer - sometimes several times a month - to honor our military and veterans. I hate war, but don't see a problem with young women and men serving our country in the armed forces.

God knows there is a lot worse material signing up every day than poor Levi, who are transformed into better people.

Phil-- what I always love about you is how your background is so different. You are liberal/progressive, but it's not from sticking your head in the sand. I have a spouse who blasts me for reading your blog, but you have worked in Cordova, you have worked in private prisons, you have even been in the military: your opinion carries more weight than Dan Fagan's groaning scale!
