Saradise Lost and Found - Chapter Seven -- Comments

Response to soon-to-be-ex Gov. Sarah Palin's response to the leaking of the Daniel Report is just beginning. Here's Palin's response:

I find the notion that I have taken any action pertaining to the legal defense trust fund misguided and factually in error. I am informed that this fund was created by experienced attorneys in DC and was modeled after other similar funds established for senators and others. The fund itself was not created by me nor is it controlled by me.

Neither I nor my lawyer has received a penny from this fund, and I am informed the Trustee was withholding any action or payment pending final resolution with the Personnel Board. This is the hallmark of legal compliance and prudent conduct.

In short, I have not ‘acted' relative to the defense fund and it is misleading to say I have. I have no doubt that the Trust will welcome guidance by the Board, as do we all, but it is my understanding that this matter was not resolved and the complainant's violation of law has served to mislead the public and prejudice a fair review of this matter.

Sean Cockerham's Anchorage Daily News article sums up the day's developments nicely. Commenters to his article, and to various blog articles late today are interesting. I'll post two each from four web sites:

Here are two from Sean's ADN article:

from Bigsky6t4: WOW -- Kristin Cole KNOWS everything from real estate to milk production to oil and gas and how to manage a trust fund for her best friend. I bet she is also the friend who will get Bristol into "real estate after she graduates" as she told People

from Black_Mountain: The core of the problem seems to be the "official" appearance of the fund. The name itself- "Alaska Fund Trust", the use of "Governor", and the Great Bear/North Star symbol of the the AK flag do not give the image of a private fund...

Here are two from Conservatives4Palin:

juju: They cannot make her give the money back. They can fine her and maybe she is unethical. Well, let them say it, we know the truth.

from Hefmier: Eddie Burke also said on his radio program that Rachel D'Oro was at the Palin house when Sarah announced her resignation. A lady has made a claim that Rachel made a snide remark to her after Rachel saw the lady wearing a pro-Palin shirt. Rachel asked her "how can you support the Governor?" Supposedly a video camera recorded the event, so maybe there will be video implicating Rachel with intentional bias towards the Governor.

Here are two from The Mudflats:

from Aussie Blue Sky: Tamara, I believe you’re mistaken, and here is why: the complaint goes through the hands of several people before an outside lawyer investigates it. If Daniel had any discussion with Kim Chatman it would have been after he had filed his report on his findings. He may have just reminded her that it was confidential (also, too, Van Flea could have made that up - he has no problem making stuff up). In any event, Kim Chatman said on KTUU news that she was not the one who gave the findings to AP.

from Big Slick:

So it’s just like we have been saying from the beginning. This “trust” was a scam in its entirety and was designed for one purpose and one purpose only, to obtain as much money for the Governor and her family/friends as possible using the victimology she has perfected as a ruse to obtain the funds!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In a nutshell!

Here are two from DailyKos:

from wmholt
: I've included the text from the report here, where it says that Alaska has no law allowing a legal defense fund to be set up for an Alaskan Governor.

To me, this is clearly malpractice. I wonder if Sarah is going to publicly blame Coale?

from entlord1: Hey but the law does not specifically forbid them either so that means if the law (in Sarah's World) does not specifically prohibit an exact act, then it is legal. Think of all the wonderful permutations that could result if this is the way the world really worked

Eddie Burke Twittered this a few hours ago:

@Dasani_01 No reason to get started.. ur a socialist and im not. We will never agree.. My job is to eliminate you. Hitler did this once.about 4 hours ago from web in reply to Dasani_01

Eddie Burke is one of Sarah Palin's most fervent supporters. Sarah Palin "pals around" with this guy.

Sarah Palin pals around with Eddie Burke, who looks up to Hitler.

Phil I posted a long comment on Gryphen's page about this issue part of the real problem is Alaska's approach of having the Gov. appoint the AG and the ethics board. My husband finds this crazy! Time to make some changes in your state Government. The current system is allowing Sarah to pretty much run the ball down the court by herself. Yeah sorry about the baketball analogy. LOL

The question that keeps rolling around in my head is "Was she hoping that all of this would not be found out because she resigned?" "Would she have taken the money and run as it were?"

That is where my thoughts keep going.

Scandal, thy name is Sarah!

Sarah's "denfense fund" is set up so she or anyone in her family anyone SHE deems fits can have $. I have called it her personal "ATM"fund aka "slush" fund from day 1. Kristen Cole her BFF set the thing up. Why is ManSour who set up the the "bet-a-thon" for the fund recently in AK? Why is she so secretive? VO aka Tim Little is also there. They have not once shared with there pals at c4p there "Alaskan" experiences. Who's paying for them? SarahPac? Where are they staying? Gov Buttercup is in directly communication with ManSour b 4 she went up to Alaska, prob. through megamouth. I hope all involved with this go down, ManSour too. Sleep with dogs get fleas!

oops sorry for typo's there/their
bet/beg...need more coffee :)

crystalwolf aka caligrl said...

Also too, why did John Coale tell a mag recently that almost all Gov. grifter's legal bills were paid by the fund???

Ratfish said...

John Coale and Newt Gingrich's ethics advisor (an oxymoron if there ever was one!)set up an illegal fund for Palin, using their "expertise" with federal officials while ignoring Alaska law.

Many questions remain to be answered:

Is the fund limited to paying legal expenses related to ethics complaints, or is it the Palin Family Slush Fund?

Palin is quoted as saying neither she nor her attorney received "one penny" from the fund.

John Coale is quoted as saying that much of Palin's legal debt has been paid.

If so, where did the money come from? Is one of the 2 lying (a real shocker of a possibility)? Kristin Cole says Palin authorized setting up the fund, so Palin's ghost-wr-tten statement is another in her series of "lies to nowhere."

The Personnel Board- assuming it gets to a formal hearing on the matter- should get these and similar questions answered.

Follow the money.

Quack quack. Tweet tweet.

In Scarah's obviously ghost-written reply above, she says
"the complainant's violation of law has served to mislead the public and prejudice a fair review of this matter." How does SP know that it was Kim Chatman who leaked the report? I highly doubt it. Chatman herself says she did not leak it. If I were Chatman and someone accused me of violating the law, I would sue for libel.

Hello Phil,

Gotta' real laugh this morning as I clicked on your link to Conservatives4Palin. Must say that I just LOVE the photo they have of the soon-to-be-ex-governor with her back turned to her supporters. So very typical of her.

Not to sound logical or reasonable here but shouldn't the gurus in DC who set up this slush fund have investigated Alaska law beforehand?

I don't know of any Governor of any state with this many ethics charges....and, once again, we are reminded of the age-old adage: Where there's smoke, there's always fire.

Simple Sarah's fingers in the cookie jar! This woman is the epitome of fraud.

What's even more nightmarish and horrific is the thought that she was selected by Johnny McInsane to be #2 in this country. Where was this man's head? I call it treason that she was not vetted properly and almost endangered all of us with the GOP's utter incompetence and dishonesty.

basheert said...

anon@8:41: McInsane's head was where it ALWAYS is - up someone's butt. Look, he may at one time have been a semi-decent human being, but the $arah selection was a true "Hail Mary" pass. Watch the films from the campaign - CindyMcMealticket wouldn't get within 2 feet of her, much less look at her. Women "sense" threats.

I believe $P planned to take the money, sometime after the resignation it would just "go away" with some type of "oh we paid off the lawyer". Perhaps someone should investigate the attorney who is representing her? Has he received funds from this Trust?

The last time I looked, attorneys ARE bound by ethis - and the Alaska Personnel Board has NO oversight. It has handled through the Bar Association.

Where is the money? Where is the list of donors and amounts received? Where is the record of disbursements? I've checked the website and there is NO information I can find to indicate this site is even legal.

I am on a 501(c)3 Board - you should SEE our paperwork and our Rules and Regs re: incoming/outcoming and paperwork, audits, forms.

This is crazy. WHERE is the money? I believe like many of you, that there are/were plans for all these funds to just go away ...

WHERE IS AN AUDIT TRAIL??????

Question:
Do Mansour and VidOm have their hands in the cookie jar?

basheert said...

Hey there's a thought - is it possible that $P is funneling monies through the Pee-People in order to get some of it out of the fund?

I believe there is a word for that...let me think....

Could there be some form of embezzlement going on? No accusation, just a question?

Strangely coincident are RAM and VidOm recent visits to our fare state.

Rumor has it they met with Stapleton while up here.

"Notwithstanding anything contained herein to the contrary, in no event shall any Trustee at any time acting hereunder be required to make any current or final reports, inventories or accountings to any court"

This statement is a part of the Trust. It appears to outlaw any "court" involvement or oversight. Is this tactic even legal?

And How Much $$ is Kristen Cole being paid as Trustee?

Kelly B,

Whatever happened to Don? Did he move back to South Africa, or what?

Remember one of the rumors regarding Palin's hasty resignation and the charge of 'embezzlement'? Someone was onto something perhaps?

It surely doesn't look good for Palin right now and some of this explains her 'deer-in-the-headlights' appearance while she gave that grammatically horrendous hurried speech replete with run-on sentences and lack of coherence.

We knew that it would all make perfect sense sooner or later and now the details are certain to be exposed. Not that I give much credence to any of the rags at the grocery store checkout but she's also made headlines on a few of them - her affair with Todd's business partner appears to be leaking out now that the jefes of the McCain/Bush bunch are no longer keeping their finger in the floodgates.

Wonder who wrote that response for her? Von Feline or the Stapled Tongue?

Did Joe Mansour accompany R.A. Mansour to Alaska?

Kelly B. said...

Phil: Isn't Don Tanner living in Talkeetna where he's shooting baby bears and their mama?

Kelly B. said...

Anon: I notice Rebecca Mansour isn't contributing as frequently on C4Pee.

I wonder if she was "disappointed" on her trip to Alaska?

Kelly B. said...

Man cited in Talkeetna AK bear shootings

TALKEETNA, Alaska - Alaska wildlife troopers have cited a Talkeetna-area man who told authorities he shot a female brown bear and three cubs at his home near Clear Creek.

Troopers say 59-year-old Don Tanner has been issued a summons to appear in court on the misdemeanor counts of taking a sow accompanied by cubs, and taking a cub bear.

WHEN CAN WE EXPECT AN AUDIT TRAIL? said...

Without that an audit this just gets too crazy.

If I was a crook and leaked something I would immediately say the other guy did it. Van Fleece must know there will never be a criminal investigation and the "Feds" would never touch this.

Johnny McInsane was never more than a brat protected by some big brass. He helped with all these crooked set ups.

Johnny McInsane could tell what happened to poor Mrs. Johnsons drug charge? Why was that arrest delayed? How many times will Levi allow them to run over her pained body with that express bus?

Maybe if Bristol and Trip sail away with the Murdock gang he'll figure out how he is being played.

I thought Don Tanner was a nut case? I'd like to learn more about him.

crystalwolf aka caligrl said...

Kelly B.-I believe manSour and VO are still in AK! Funny they are not writing a thing about their visit to the "great state of Alaska"!
Why all the secrecy?
And Dan Tanner...doesn't he own a Inn or something in Wasilla? Maybe he was showing off for visitors?
Kristin Cole is releasing a pressor today and claiming Gov. Grifter didn't ask a thing for the fund. Funny that ManSour who either has been feeding talking points to Palin & co, re: lemonade stand, faux outrage letterman, iconic pic faux outrage...ManSour recently PUSHED for the Beg-a-Thon, and when asked why, she mysteriously said, she just knew....SHE is in contact with megamouth and Sarah! She is up there now and just released some new talking points from Camp Sarah, "They all gave to the fund for Sarah Palin not Gov. Palin" Awwwwww! How the lies fly in Alaska!!!!!I hope ManSour and Vo go down as their part in the Bogus trust fund is revealed.

Wasn't Kristen Cole's mother convicted of major embezzlement? Did Kristen inherit her mother's scruples (or lack of)?

Anonymous said...

Kristen Cole's mother is doing time, or did time for embezzling. She was in the real estate and fund business, too.

Is it Joe or RAM Mansour that are in Alaska? Are they both there?

Anonymous said...

RA Mansour is in southern California, the land of liberal fruits and nuts. LOL

Anonymous said...

Is Joe Mansour the one who is in Alaska?

Anonymous said...

Yes, Kristan Cole's mother embezzled over $700,000 from two trust funds...one in Canada. She was convicted.

crystalwolf aka caligrl said...

RAM is in Alaska now! Has been since the resignation. Don't know who Joe mansour is??
