Col. Ann Wright to Speak in Anchorage Twice on Thursday

One of America's great heroes will be speaking in Anchorage Thursday. She will address the Bartlett Club at lunch time, and will present an address at UAA Thursday evening.

Here's Susan Bright from Alaskans for Peace and Justice, describing Col. Wright's Thursday events:

Hi,

Our group, Alaskans For Peace & Justice, along with groups in Juneau, Fairbanks, Sitka, and Ketchikan, are co-sponsors of a visit to Alaska by Retired Col. Ann Wright. Col Wright had publicly resigned from the State Department in direct protest of the 2005 Invasion of Iraq. Since her resignation in 2003, she has been a leader of nonviolent protests against the military conflicts in the Middle East and a vocal defender of the Constitution, the Geneva Conventions, the freedom of the press and America’s beloved civil liberties.

She is co-author of the book "Dissent: Voices of Conscience". She has recently returned from Gaza, after accompanying a sixty member aid delegation that was allowed entry into the Gaza province of Palestine, through the Egyptian border. She will be in Alaska from May 12th through May 19th, and in Anchorage on Thursday, the 14th.

Her schedule, while she is in Anchorage, is listed below.

1) Bartlett Democratic Club:

"Can Obama REALLY Change U.S. Foreign Policy?"

When: Thursday, May 14 from noon to 1 p.m. (or later)

Where:
Denny's Restaurant, corner of Bragaw and DeBarr

2) "Heart to Heart Conversation: Gaza - Iraq - Afghanistan - Iran"

When: Thursday, May 14, 7-9 p.m.

Where:
UAA, Rasmuson Hall, room 101
(the business center, across the glass bridge from the Wells Fargo Sports Complex and Student Union)

No charge - All welcome - There will be a book signing afterward.

Sponsors: Alaskans for Peace & Justice and Alaskans for Palestine.

Phil Smith,

Thanks. Looking back through my e-mails, it appears I've only gotten her Anchorage schedule. I'll try to get her statewide speaking schedule from AK4P&J today and post it.
