Her dad lives near the fire area, which has threatened three Old Believer villages, Kachemak Selo, Razdoina and Voznesenka. Apparently, cooler weather and lighter winds today have lessened the seriousness of the danger. The Anchorage Daily News has some fairly comprehensive coverage, by Megan Holland.
