Winter Shipments

Our first winter seed shipment - from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds - came today. So did our winter installment from Rosenblum Cellars.

We're going to try Miguel's Medley, which is 33% Grenache, 33% Mourvedre and 34% Syrah. Actually, we're already trying it. Nice.

I'm going to start tomato and pepper plants this week. We had seen an installment of The Iron Chef where one of the secret ingredients was something they called Watermelon radishes. I ordered something Baker Creek calls Chinese Red Meat radishes. It turns out they are the same plant.

Here's one use for Watermelon radishes.

Watermelon radish Martinis.

Maybe we'll have Andrew Halcro over for dinner again.

AKjah,

4 kinds of beets. We'll probably grow six or seven kinds this year.

WE've gotten into a lot of beet dishes, especially roasted beet and mint salads.
