Saradise Lost - Book 4 - Chapter 57 - Granny Palin's Death Panel Dilemma

--- by Shannyn Moore

The dangers of “death panels” were explained to Americans on Sarah Palin’s facebook page. Oh, sweet Lord, she must not sleep at night…her grandson could be the next victim of “socialized medicine”.

Recently released documents from the custody battle show clearly Tripp Palin Johnston has socialized health care through Indian Health Services and the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Palin’s family has federally funded health care afforded to them…but if you had it Barack Obama might kill you.

Put this on the list of Palin’s Greatest Hypocritical Hits…volume 97.

[Daily Kos has a diary on this same subject. Shannyn has cross-posted the article above at Huffington Post.

[Tune in to Shannyn on KYES-TV Anchorage this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. - for Moore Up North]

How is Tripp an enrolled member of a tribal COUNCIL? People enroll in tribes, not councils or consortiums. It would be proper and LEGAL to state that Tripp is an enrolled member of the Curyung Tribe of Alaska. And I certainly hope that Bristol has really enrolled her little bugger, since its entirely possible for unenrolled children to receive services from IHS when Mom is enrolled.

Non Native attorneys should really learn the basic terminology of federal indian law. It's not so difficult.

WHAT THE HELL? THESE PALIN WHITEBREAD GRIFTERS HAVE AT LEAST 4 HOUSES, A PLANE, SEVERAL BUSINESSES, SNOW MACHINES UP THE BUTT, NEW SUVS AND WE FIND OUT THEY HAVE FREE INSURANCE THAT OTHERS IN THE TRIBE ARE MORE DESERVING OF!

What other Palins are receiving these benefits? As much free money they now have, they can afford to buy their own insurance. Let the money and benefits go back to the tribe who could use it more.

I do not know how the Alaskan Native Indian benefits work, are the benefits received by the Alaskan Native American Indians paid for by the the United States government which means the taxpayers of the lower 48 are paying for the Wasilla Hill Billies health, medical, education and whatever else benefits they receive? That is a crying shame. On top of that the Sarah Palin charged per diem to stay in her own house when she was govenor.

PALINS ARE TRULY THE WORLDS LARGEST GRIFTERS

Sadly for the Palin-haters we all know the truth about the Death panels and why the Dems had to remove them from the public option. No amount of spin is gonna change that.

Oh dear. Someone in Dillingham has done the Palins a favor.
Same ol', same ol'...corruption, nepotism, favoritism, village politics. Really, folks, it ain't gonna do anyone any good to suck up to Mrs. Palin. Really, it's not.

Bristol/Sarah/Todd/Van Flein have a few things wrong. Trigg qualifies for Indian Health Service through the Cook Inlet region. Because of where he and his parents live. It has nothing to do with Curyung.
He's a beneficiary (as are Todd and all his children) of Southcentral Foundation by virtue of living in Wasilla. That's his service area.
And IHS is NOT insurance. Alaska state law requires that BOTH parents provide health insurance to children. Bristol, sweetie, you BOTH have to. Your attorney has got his rationale and argument wrong.
What an idiot.

anon@3:17 do you have a link?
Thanks.

Sarah Palin had a very dismal number in the CPAC straw poll. I suspect her "death panel" lie was a contributing factor.

Qualification to get services for Indians from various government agencies can seem amazingly complex and confusing to the newbie. I don't even try to follow the logic. But it does seem that if Sarah Palin's grandson is entitled to government healthcare, then it's fair to ask Sarah Palin how that "death panel-ly" thing is working out for her grandson.

Growing up here, I always thought that you had to be at least 1/4 Native to receive health benefits. Wouldn't Tripp only be 1/16th?

I'm 1/8th Norwegian...................should my children (1/16th) be collecting some kind of benefit from those wealthy Scandinavian countries? akbatwoman

To be a stockholder in a corporation, like Doyon, you need to be at least 1/4 Alaskan Indian.

To get Health benefits you must provide documented Indian Heritage to the BIA, it is government money. I know people in Alaska who are 1/32 with a CIB card and they receive services at the health centers and hospitals.

So yes Todd, his children and his grandchildren are eligible to apply for and receive a CIB card and would get Indian Health care.

Sooo...While Palin was peddling her "Death Panel" lies last fall in an attempt to kill real healthcare reform for millions of people strapped by health costs, her family was sucking at the trough of government healthcare themselves.

No surprise. Palin is one shameless hypocrite.

btw...For the people who claim that the "death panels" lie was true: you're silly noodles who don't know what the hell you're talking about, primarily because you're listening to one of the most ignorant politicians to ever grace the national stage. Try some grownup research independent from FaceBook, for God's sake!

ANONS @ 3:17 and 8:26 are both wrong.

Sheesh.

3:17 - Your fundamental understanding of IHS service areas is wrong. Individuals receive IHS benefits when one has a CDIB card, upon whose grant is determined by a tribe or Alaska Native Corp via the BIA. Service areas are reciprocal throughout the US. One needs more than residence in a service area to receive IHS services. SCF may be a provider, but it is not the agency that grants eligibility.

8:26 - In order to be an original enrollee in 1972, one must have shown 1/4 Indian Blood. That requirement does not apply to current shareholders, as the requirement is now any amount of AK Native blood.

3:17-Alaska state law requires that BOTH parents provide health insurance to children.
----------

Isn't that like a mandation?

Oh for fucks sake, now will someone please explain what the Public Health Service is all about.

When you're done with that please explain to your poor uninformed outside readers about the nature of "tribes" in Alaska and how that relates to their corporations and councils.

Moore publishes this stuff and you and the other bloggers repeat it verbatum without any additional context.

Do your Outside readers a favor, especially those who don't understand the unique status of Alaska Native corporations, and provide them some background as to WHY she is eligible for these benefits.

Come on Phil, be responsible for once and do your job. I expect this kind of hysteria from Moore, you could do a better job of fleshing this out.

You might want to throw in that Native Alaskans negotiated their healthcare costs as payment for the loss of their aboriginal lands.

DO explain, PLEASE explain how this is"socialized medicine".

Sheesh, c'mon, do your homework guys.

Who administers the health care? Is it a private insurance agency or a government agency?

Anonymous said...

anon@5:25-
Health care is administered by tribe or tribal consortium, under the Indian Self-Determination Act of 1975.
That act changed the way services were rendered to Alaska Natives and Indians in that tribal groups could contract to provide their own services to themselves as opposed to the older BIA way of providing from without.
This is considered a milestone in tribal sovereignty and self determination- to some extent mirrors the way states deal with the fed... but that analogy is thin in the end when you look at all the ins and outs.
It is NOT health insurance, it is healthcare.
The government agency providing it is tribal- or rather it flows from tribal government...

Ah yes the irony of allthat is Scarah Palin! Her kids, grandkids and husband are members of a Alaska Native tribe, yet while Govenor, she continued to funnel $$$$$$ into her Attorney Generals budget to fight the status of tribes in Alaska.

Personally I do believe she had/has no clue as to what her administration was and continues to do for the tribal status her offspring take advantage of.

Nor do I feel Tawd does either.

Her preferred choice of WAR as attorney general speaks volumes as to her continued clueless nature.

Then we have Papa Heath. Who I believe has his own issues with subsistence and rural people.

I don't believe the the issue of taking advantage of that frudicary responsibility of health care to the first peoples is the MAIN issue. No dought Palin does believe humans shouldn't rely on guvermint provided healthcare, has sickening she believes. More important, in my mind, is the fact that she has a house full of tribal members, yet supported, thru her clueless governing, a diminishment of tribal status within the state of Alaska.

I probably shouldn't comment on these blogs anymore, but it seems ridiculous if Ms. Moore is holding Palin accountable for Palin's grandchild's health care. What purpose does this serve? The grandchild is entitled to this care. What should Palin do? Demand to the parents that the kid get cut off? Should Palin make a public statement indicating she thinks this care is inappropriate? I don't see how this is Palin's, (or Moore's) freeking business.

If my kid's grandmother told me to cut off my kid's healthcare because of grandma's political philosophy, I'd tell grandma to go to hell and mind her own business.

If Palin were receiving government health care for herself, that might be relevant. Her grandchild's health care is totally irrelevant.

Well, I see that everyone has questions, and everyone has partial information that may or may not be correct. One thing is for sure -- this article raised many more questions than it settled.

So I'll just add mine, which is regarding actual eligibility. And I’m certain I don’t have any or all of the right facts.

If Tripp is getting medical coverage under the IHS, and his only native ancestor is Todd Palin’s grandmother(?) who was half Yup’ik, that makes him 1/32nd Native Alaskan. I’m told that each tribe has its own legal… ancestral level… for eligibility(?) but that the most common cut-off is 1/16.

IS Tripp actually eligible for this insurance coverage?

I’m going to go read comments looking for the answer, but in the meantime — does anyone know the answer? I’m coming back, I swear!

Thanks.

I think its worth looking into...but there probably isn't a cutoff.
I can see many posters here are incapable of "Getting" the hypocrisy of it all, DUH! Granny hates BIG GOVT! ENTITLEMENTS! SOCIALIZED MEDICINE! Except when her kids and grandkids get it FREE! Duh!

Looks like another desperate attack on the Palins by Alaska's increasingly irrelevant progressives has flopped. Meanwhile a Dem politician and others in Illinois book Palin as a fundraiser and tickets sell out in ONE DAY. The more the progressives rant against her, the stronger Palin gets.

Lidia said...

"Desperate" is what Sarah and her cult members are going to be when they see the photo evidence that Sarah presented (at least) 2 different babies to the world as "TriG".

Anonymous said...

Hey, Lidia, it was actually fifteen different babies and three different Todds and, of course, Palin was hiding behind the grassy knoll when JFK was shot ...oh, and she was driving Lady Di's limo in Paris when it crashed and was seen at the World Trade Centre on 9/11 and she landed at Roswell in a flying saucer and the Palins were implicated in the Da Vinci Code...oh, yeah and she wears an Israeli flag in order to bring on the Final Days...and she purchased all the copies of Going Rogue herself and she controls radio, TV and the newspapers and uses special mind-rays to incite her followers to
attack IRS offices........
