The Stonewall Riots - The Battle Continues

I meant to post this Sunday, but a friend brought over some salmon from his fish wheel above Chitina, so I got caught up in helping him (they're in the smokehouse now).

The 40th anniversary of the start of the Stonewall Riots in Greenwich Village was Sunday. The riots continued for days. Our current battle in Anchorage for gay rights began only a few years after the riots. It is still being fought.

While courageous young people in Iran are fighting on the streets to diminish the influence over their lives by religious bigots who have taken over their government, so we are fighting in Anchorage against religious bigots who think they run our government.

Same battle, different battlefields.
