Gov. Mark Sanford Needs to Keep on "Soul Searching"

I wonder how far he's going to take his King David metaphor? Here's what he said after the press conference:

I remain committed to rebuilding the trust that has been committed to me over the next 18 months, and it is my hope that I am able to follow the example set by David in the Bible - who after his fall from grace humbly refocused on the work at hand. By doing so, I will ultimately better serve in every area of my life, and I am committed to doing so.

I doubt Sanford is contemplating how King David's sex life ended up, at the beginning of I Kings:

1- Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

2- Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

3- So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

4- And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.

Sanford and his wife are attempting to out-bible each other. I believe she has her eye on a political career also too.

South Carolina has a new kinky king, hail king mark. Now he can steel all their money. Oh well, I never thought the people were any where near smart down there in SC. When is sara going to call him with the pat on the back.

Typical bible thumping hypocrite.

Clinton should resign but not him, he's annointed by God to be Governor.

I hope his people vote him out next election.

And we should vote out everyone in his secret bible group. They need to be taken out of government or any position of power. Joel's army.

Mary,

If there's one thing the Xianist fascists who come to power have in common, it appears to be hypocritical kinkiness.

I believe it is time that the States decided to abandon the political office of Governor. They all seem to be batsh*t crazy.

The constant comparisons to religious figures and icons is getting a bit wearing.

If this was really biblical times, Sanford would be executed.

Hmmm...Sanford is King David...and Palin is now a sacred icon who can't be desecrated.

These folks have a wee problem with delusions and megalomania, eh?

Kick their religious arses to the curb. Sheesh.

It's been my experience with cheating husbands that claim love and devotion go home whimpering when their ungodliness is revealed.

Apparently it decreases their sex drive once it is no longer a dirty little secret.

What a hypocritical old man. His wife knew about it and still lived with him for a while. She should have thrown him out a year ago.

Wife Sanford has obviously made her deal with the devil. Many wives choose to ignore due to their unwillingness to give up a lifestyle. I understand Mrs. Sanford is heavily involved in her husbands political career. She evidently learned of the affair when he asked her to locate some financial info in his file (hmmmmmmm, did he want her to find out???)

What I don't get is this biblical invocation schtick they are all doing. These individuals are NOT icons. They are, quite frankly, giving religion a really bad name.

I feel sorry for Sanford's wife. The comparison to biblical figures borders on the obscene. Then again, so does S&M - who is one of the most thoroughly obscene individuals I have ever had the misfortune of hearing about.

These people cherry pick their beliefs to fit their circumstances. They are reprehensible and disgusting. They are also hypocrites.

Sanford will be gone in 3-5 months. He undoubtedly will be divorced soon as well. S&M will hopefully be serving a stint in Leavenworth for tax fraud. First Dud could also be in Leavenworth but maybe he'll have a new best friend named Bud with a red t-shirt that says "rascist"???

Some are giving Sanford a week. Is anyone offering the vacancy in the GOP governors' post to Palin?
