Dan Sullivan Will Be Announcing His Decision to VETO Anchorage Ord. # 64 Today

Progressive Alaska has just learned that Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan will veto the civil rights ordinance people have been struggling over there since May.

Don't waste your phone calls or emails on him. He's sold his soul to Faust Dr. Prevo.

The only chance now may be to convince Assembly member Debbie Ossiander that she can redeem her soul from the Prevo pit.

Meanwhile, if one of the people killed in the increasingly violent streets, alleys or woods of Anchorage ends up being gay, you can pin that one onto assembly member and pathetic asshole, Chris Birch.

I was worried that he would likely veto this. I wonder how he will explain or justify this, or if he doesn't even feel like he has to explain his decision to anybody.

I think the best action to take is for everyone to FLOOD Debbie Ossiander with both e-mails and calls and try and convince her to change her vote and overturn the veto. I don't think anyone else on the Assembly is likely to change theirs. In her short speech before voting NO on passage of the ordinance, she acted like she felt guilty about it and even said that she couldn't look some people in the eye when she voted no. This needs brisk and vigorous and sustained pressure on her starting the minute the mayor's veto is announced, if he indeed does veto this.

WOW ... your Mayor does not support civil rights?? That can only mean most of his constituents don't either (or he wouldn't be mayor).

Pathetic

The mayor vetoed the ordinance, I just received an email from one of the Assemblymen who I sent my letter to. Don't give up - this can be overridden but it's going to take a lot of action on our parts to do so!

Email the mayor and tell him whatever you want, for me I'll be telling him he's a bigot. I will probably send one a bit less blunt to the Assembly, but I'll have to wait a day or so because I'm so angry I could happily slap the lot of them who opposed the ordinance with a dead, slimy salmon.

Sullivan just announced his veto with the lamest of reasons. What a sellout. Now we will find out what Ms Ossiander is made of...

What do you expect from a married, "Christian", white man who parties with his barmaids until 4:00 AM while his wife and kids are at home? He hardly has the moral compass to do the right thing in his personal life, so why would we expect him to take the higher road in his elected position? Sullivan and his buddy Prevo (Prevert) will have a lot of splainin' to do when they reach the pearly gates. WWJD?

Another sad day for Anchorage. Sadly this does not suprise me.

Like father, like son, right?

Hm, now I'll just have to convince my boss to never make me come up there for meetings again so I can boycott Anchorage in protest of the lack of equal rights for ALL my friends.

Why don't we put it to a vote of teh people and see what they say?

What these dominionists believe is not that Jesus came to make peace, but that he came to take over. That is what they are working towards, a takeover. They don't believe in civil rights for anyone, except themselves. They believe they are the special chosen people who the rules do not apply to.

You seriously need a new Mayor who represents Anchorage and not Mat-Su

We need to put the pressure on the Assembly particularly Ossiander who I am convinced is in cahoots with Prevo to allow outsiders to abuse the right of testify. Her, the rest of the fascist four along with the bigot Sullivan don't represent Anchorage. Let's let them know it.
