Jimmy Carter was the first president I voted for who won. I have much respect for him and regardless of what you think of his presidency he has continued to commit himself to public service and his experience in Middle East policy deserves a listen. I only wish Obama had chosen him for VP.

anon @ 7:29,

Joe Biden wouldn't have been on my top 25 list of VP possibilities. Carter would have turned down the offer, but Obama wouldn't have made it. Carter is not highly regarded by Zionists, to say the least, and that would have had a negative impact on the campaign.

Although I greatly admire President Carter, I believe he is wrong about this issue. Palestinians have made it abundantly clear that they will not stop killing Israelis until every Israeli is dead or driven into the sea. Israel is willing to live in peace with its neighbors, but Palestinians are not. They want all Israelis dead or gone.

Anon @ 11:20 pm - you are most likely wrong.

You write, "Israel is willing to live in peace with its neighbors," but within the past three years, the Israeli government has invaded Lebanon, caused the largest oil spill in the history of the Eastern Mediterranean, killed thousands of civilians, bombed Syria and Turkey (!), destroyed every hospital and school in Gaza, and elected unabashed racists to major political positions.

The Palestinians are not saints, and their leadership is usually incompetent, corrupt, or both. But your collective judgement on an entire people is entirely inaccurate.

Wow, scratch the surface of a "progressive" blog nowadays and it's amazing how the vile slime of anti-semitism is always oozing just below the surface. That you feature the disgusting anti-semites Tutu & Carter is no surprise , your pathetic dig at "Zionists" (come out and say what you really mean) is also entirely predictable but your mealy-mouthed "the Palestinians are not saints" really takes the biscuit.

Hey racist, why don't you tell us why Israel invaded Lebanon and why it bombed Syria ? Why not tell us why Hamas used schools and hospitals as weapons dumps ? Ever show your handful of readers photos of Hamas giving Nazi salutes or pictures of Palestinian children wearing fake suicide belts ?

Thank you, to Mr. Munger for your comments above, on the facts.
The problem I see is the lack of education to the comments made, and lack of research to the knowledge of what is actually happening.
