Foreign Prime Minister Gets 29 Standing Ovations Before Joint Session of US. Congress - Compared to Obama's 25 At the SOTU

Watching this right-wing blowhard being adulated reminded me of something George Washington wrote in 1779:
It gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens (who devote themselves to the favorite nation), facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding, with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation.

Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government.

Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.

This is off the topic but maybe you'll find it interesting anyway.

Story at the Frontiersman today.

WASILLA — The Alaska State Commission for Human Rights has ruled that discrimination and wrongful termination complaints filed against Matanuska Creamery by two former employees have merit.

Former creamery office administrator Kay Schaugaard and former pasteurizer Amy Moore, who are both Mormon, allege company co-owner and Chief Financial Officer Karen Olson made disparaging remarks about Mormons and not wanting “any more (expletive) Mormons” working for the company. They also claim co-owner Kyle Beus did not take their discrimination complaints seriously before they were fired more than two years ago.

The case will now be heard by an Anchorage court judge, which could rule the company owes them back wages and more than $15,000 in other expenses.

Schaugaard and Moore also allege that company executives misused federal grant monies for personal investments or illegally used them to support a separate company that makes milk jugs.

Here's the real news?

Schaugaard said Monday the Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation into the alleged funds misuse. When contacted earlier this year, the FBI would neither confirm nor deny such an investigation exists, as is its policy.

Absolutely fascinating. I too have heard about religious discrimination in the valley. This is an interesting post and perhaps the only way justice will be sought to end the problems at the dairy.

maybe the "R's" could adopt bibi as their candidate?

"Israel receives on average about 3 billion in direct foreign assistance each year, an amount that is roughly one-sixth of America's direct foreign assistance budget and equal to about 2 percent of Israel's GDP. In recent years, about 75 percent of U.S. assistance has been military aid, with the remainer broken down into various forms of economic aid. In per capita terms, this level of direct foreign assistance amounts to a direct subsidy of more that $500 per year for each Israeli."

Other US help includes:

• US Jewish charities and organizations have remitted grants or bought Israel bonds worth $50 billion to $60 billion. Though private in origin, the money is "a net drain" on the United States economy, says Stauffer.

• The US has already guaranteed $10 billion in commercial loans to Israel, and $600 million in "housing loans." (See editor's note below.) Stauffer expects the US Treasury to cover these.

• The US has given $2.5 billion to support Israel's Lavi fighter and Arrow missile projects.

• Israel buys discounted, serviceable "excess" US military equipment. Stauffer says these discounts amount to "several billion dollars" over recent years.

• Israel uses roughly 40 percent of its $1.8 billion per year in military aid, ostensibly earmarked for purchase of US weapons, to buy Israeli-made hardware. It also has won the right to require the Defense Department or US defense contractors to buy Israeli-made equipment or subsystems, paying 50 to 60 cents on every defense dollar the US gives to Israel.

US help, financial and technical, has enabled Israel to become a major weapons supplier. Weapons make up almost half of Israel's manufactured exports. US defense contractors often resent the buy-Israel requirements and the extra competition subsidized by US taxpayers.

• US policy and trade sanctions reduce US exports to the Middle East about $5 billion a year, costing 70,000 or so American jobs, Stauffer estimates. Not requiring Israel to use its US aid to buy American goods, as is usual in foreign aid, costs another 125,000 jobs.

• Israel has blocked some major US arms sales, such as F-15 fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia in the mid-1980s. That cost $40 billion over 10 years, says Stauffer.

nope. add it all up and it is about a trillion

And what do we get from Israel? About 50 million from Israeli companies in the US. Medical and technological advances

When you are depending on medical inventions to save your life....talk to me about Israel.

Trish 69,

Thank you for posting detailed facts and figures regarding US/Israeli financial relations.

Although the Republicans are raving lunatics and AIPAC buys them off, the majority of their money goes to the Democrats, among whom are the most rabid Zionists.

If Joseph Goebbels were alive today I suspect he would have grudging admiration for what the Israeli Lobby and World Zionism has accomplished.

Control the media and you control the narrative. Turn any criticism of Israeli policy into antisemitism.

Dominate congress, think tanks, the film, recording, broadcast, financial industries along with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Did I leave anything out? Oh yeah, control the stupid Goyim Christian Zionists.

Keep "Harping on the Holocaust" and milk that financially for all it's worth.

David the world is getting sick and tired of your perpetual victim-hood whining. So for now you and your ilk have the USA by the balls.

As the dollar collapses and the US empire wanes that money is going to dry up and when it does the Muslim hoards will descend and devour you like a pack of rabid jackals.
