The Anchorage Civic Orchestra Performance of Peter and the Wolf

Saturday afternoon, as the highlight of the Anchorage Civic Orchestra's spring concert - Russian Pops - we performed Serge Prokofiev's perennial children's favorite, Peter and the Wolf. Our guest narrator was Shannyn Moore.

Linda Kellen Biegel made a video of the performance and has posted it on Youtube. The sound quality is pretty good, and she did a great job of getting the most out of a pocket camera.

Near the end of the first part I lost the grip on my baton, and it flew off into the violin section. After the concert, Shannyn told me she thought I might be flinging things at her, but - no - she did a sturdy job of telling a story she has treasured since her childhood.

Everyone in the orchestra did fine jobs, but special merits go to Emily Weaver on the oboe (the duck) and Carolyn Kozar on bassoon (grandpa).
