Saradise Lost - Book 4 - Chapter 16 -- Palin Violates Ft. Bragg & Army Policies - Should She Be Allowed to Do the Same at Ft. Hood?

Here's local North Carolina media coverage of Palin's book signing on base at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina:

...and this piece of Sarah puff porn:

In the first video, Palin's father campaigns for Palin's 2012 presidential bid on camera, on base. In the second video, made before Palin's Monday Ft. Bragg appearance, she is clearly campaigning for GOP or Tea Party candidates in 2010, when answering a reporter's question.

Palin has flown from Florida to eastern Washington's Tri-Cities, where she will spend the Thanksgiving weekend in the Atomic City - Richland, and run in a 5K benefit event in Kennewick, for the Red Cross, called the Turkey Trot.

And today Palin stated on FAUX News, that she might consider running for president on a ticket that includes Glenn Beck:

Regarding Palin's scheduled upcoming appearance next week at Ft. Hood, so many people have been protesting to the Ft. Hood Public Affairs Officer, that their answering services and emails went down sometime about mid-day Wednesday. Palin is clearly running, as her father stated at Ft. Bragg.

Earlier in the week, discussing the possibility of mounting a protest to Palin's Ft. Hood appearance, I was reluctant to participate. I felt that instead of objecting to or trying to stop the appearance, people should just try to document it, looking for more material about dominionist groups on base in the USA. But after Ft. Bragg, I think it IS appropriate to try to block her from even appearing on base at the mourning Texas post.
Others are concerned too.

I wonder how Franklin Graham's non-profit, Samaritan's Purse is dealing with all their Palin stuff on their 2009 1099 IRS forms? Alaskans were concerned about her sole trip to the beleaguered lower Yukon last winter with Graham, a clearly partisan and faith-based mission.
Her ties to Graham appear to be deepening. Here's Graham's plane - owned by his non-profit, Samaritan's Purse, at Asheville, NC, Sunday evening:

It's all coming together. Some of the bits and pieces are adding up.

Pastor Thomas Muthee who blessed Sarah Palin's run for Alaska governor said Christians should emulate "Israelites" and run the economy. [The laying-on of hands video.]
Muthee precedes the blessing with a sermon calling for Christians to assume control in seven areas of society.
"The second area whereby God wants us, wants to penetrate in our society is in the economic area," he said in the sermon. "The Bible says that the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous. It's high time that we have top Christian businessmen, businesswomen, bankers, you know, who are men and women of integrity running the economics of our nations. That's what we are waiting for. That's part and parcel of transformation. If you look at the-you know-if you look at the Israelites, that's how they work. And that's how they are, even today."

Christian control of schools:
"We need God taking over our education system. Otherwise we, if we have God in our schools, we will not have kids being taught, you know, how to worship Buddha, how to worship Mohammed, we will not have in the curriculum witchcraft and sorcery."

For the heck of it, I’m going to toss this out here and on a couple of other blogs. It occurred to me that the partnership between SP and SP (Sarah Palin and Samaritan’s Purse) might be more (or less) than ideological. It is my impression that charitable organizations have very little regulation as to accounting for where their money comes from and goes to. If a charitable organization wants its donors’ contributions to be tax-deductible, it must comply with IRS limitations regarding how funds are spent, but enforcement is very lax, particularly in the case of religious organizations because of the First Amendment. Since both left and right-wing political movements have ties to church organizations and use church facilities, there is little political pressure for additional regulation and oversight. If a non-church organization claiming to feed the hungry spends 95% of donations on staff salaries, an ambitious attorney general might claim that donors are being defrauded, but when a religious organization claims to be doing “God’s work,” it’s not the business of the government to question whether God’s angels need multi-million dollar private aircraft.

Anyway, it occurred to me that Samaritan’s Purse just might be Sarah’s Purse, a useful conduit for political contributions to (not-so-good) Samaritan Palin. Don’t want your (corporate?) name appearing as a political donor? No problem, just contribute to the cost of the Purse’s aircraft. Palin won’t have to rent or lease one, and the Purse benefits by effectively leasing the aircraft to her. The Purse could also provide some or most of the boots on the ground and auxilliary services at Palin’s speaking stops, picking up what would be expenses for her campaign organization. Of course, the Purse could not publicly solicit funds on the basis that the money would benefit Palin, but a few discreet words to a dozen privacy-loving wealthy donors would suffice, while the Purse benefits from the generosity of ordinary Palin supporters by being publicly associated with her.

I apologize if this possibility is already obvious to everyone, and not just suspicious legal types like me. I don’t know how it might be investigated without subpoena power, but if the idea is spread around, people may be alert to clues and encounter those who know things and are willing to talk.
