A Tribute to Teabagger Erudition

Here's a collection of right-wing signs, many of them from 2009 teabagger rallies. Their erudition speaks loudly on behalf of their real message:

I sea uh lott uf nowlege on dspay in thes signs. LOL

It seems that, among many of the teabaggers, education isn't high on the list of ingredients necessary to making informed decisions in a democracy. But this really doesn't surprise me after teaching high school social studies in a very red southern state for over 30 years. Many of these people believe that religion and political ideology take precedence over everything else. It doesn't matter whether a politician looks out for their well-being as long as he/she endorses their beliefs of the way the world and/or the government should operate. This is the same attitude that got us 8 years of W in the WH. He continues to be a conservative beacon of "good governance" here and everything he did/does is always right. On S.C.'s major news website, thestate.com, one of the posters wishes W was still president because Obama is destroying the country, although he/she offered no supporting evidence.

I guess that means all you lefties are like those in the Weather Underground that liked to blow up things and kill cops?
Some of these photos could be "plants" from your own little groups...hmmmm!
I'd say you are more like those in the Weather Underground.

The only thing I'm going to say about these people and their lack of classic education is that they are employed in a trade; they work with their hands (and also with their brains) but they never received a traditional education.

I have friends and family that couldn't spell their way out of a wet paper bag, but they can learn by "rote" to wire a home or fix my car.

I choose not to attempt an intelligent dialogue with them and they are just as happy to not speak with me on a certain level.

However, they fix my car and they wire my house. They also put in flooring and carpet and enrich my life in certain ways.

I had certain advantages available to me that they did not, and quite frankly some of them would never have chosen the collegiate route even with a free ride offered to them.

I just feel sad that their lack of education leads them down the path of being easily influenced by religion and other "brainwashing" cults and in an attempt to get their message out they do so in such a way that more educated people are able to make fun of their lack of traditional knowledge regarding spelling and grammar.

Hmmm...more progressive Alinskyism.
Ridicule mixed with a good dose of arrogance will help organize a community.

But, will it organize a country? It did work to bring the left to power. The elections today seem to show that the country will lean away from the creepy left.

What alinsky forgot is that while you may be able to grab power in a community and even in a country by using his methods, holding on to power is a different game.

Holding on to power by the progressive left will require abandoning democracy, and I don't think that is going to fly.

KaJo said...

Neocon Anonymous, you give away your political leanings by the neocon talking point, "Alinsky".

I swear, EVERY last fricken neocon invokes the name of Alinsky, which means they must have heard it from Limbaugh and Hannity and O'Reilly's talking points -- but since we progressives and liberals don't listen to the blabbermouths on Fox "News" we're relatively unfamiliar with "Alinsky", unless we're curious enough to look the term up in Wikipedia.

I'm sure glad you can tell us what we believe, think, and act like, O Neocon. I wouldn't have known otherwise...

Looks like the same backwards Anglo crowd who showed up for Palin rallies in fall, 2008. They are all gathering in one place, and with a few last gasps here and there, marginalizing themselves to the dustbins of history. Bye, y'all.

What's a neocon?

Anonymous said...

OH...I forgot sarcasm.

Of course everything is mixed with so much arrogance. The left is just sooooo intelligent.

AKPetMom, I agree with you to a certain point...Some people were never taught to read and its not their fault, I had have friends that were tutors at the library for such people and they were hardworking and willing to learn, I'm sure they were employed in trades in which their skills were in other things...but these teabaggers revel in their homeschooled stupidity! And the Teabaggers that can write cite talking points from Faux... Alinisky, Acorn, constitution, patriot etc. Their word salads decorate Queen Grifters FB page!
No...these people don't care...And I'm sorry they are stupid to believe a Liar Grifter like Sarah Palin!!!!!!

AKpetmom,
for someone that likes to dig in the dirt and refers to that as an occupation you have no right to slam people who wire your house or fix your car.
Maybe they would like to know that...? I'd be happy to pass this along to anyone and everyone.
See how fast they got to your aid when your stupid so called educated self needed a hand.

For the "Anonymous" who replied to AKPetMom:

At what point was "dig in the dirt" mentioned? Or the "profession" of digging in dirt...?

More importantly, I don't think AKPetMom said anything against the carpetlayer or the mechanic or anyone else. She did mention that they may avoid certain subjects of conversation. That's not that surprising; I don't talk crafts with my mechanic and I don't talk cars with my mother.

There are some very ignorant people with college degrees and some brilliant minds that have been trapped in poverty yet still manage to educate themselves in spite of it.

My personal observation is that those who shout the loudest to make their point(s) or use the most extreme language, seem to make the least use of logic.

It's as if they're living by that old saying: If you can't dazzle 'em with your brilliance, then baffle 'em with bullsh... well, you get the idea.

I’ve updated my Oxdown diary:

Update: This just in my inbox, from a source connected sometimes to CNN:

“Here’s a quote I got from law enforcement here in Alaska yesterday afternoon regarding Palin “a criminal indictment is pending authorization.”

anon @ 7:38,

I have no idea why you keep posting this bit of esoterica. When I updated that post I believed what I posted to be accurate. It turned out not to be the case. I've stated that in the past.

I got an email that said what I posted.

Unless you can demonstrate some sort of continuing validity in your doing this, I'll start deleting it when it shows up, just like any other SPAM.

Makabit "Some of these photos could be "plants" from your own little groups...hmmmm!"

Less plant, more vegetable.

No-one's knocking blue-collar workers. Anyone who proclaims superiority of their language had better demonstrate it. Or look foolish. Like these folks.

BTW, the woman in the Burberry scarf who wants to hang on to her wealth and her "competnce" friend don't look like horny-handed daughters of the soil to me.

Stoopid knows no class boundaries

A bit of esoterica ?

Lol, I thought that was an album by Martin Denny.

You mean that you got an email from what is known to be an unreliable source and you decided to spread the unreliable information without confirming it.

I'm just pointing out your clear lack understanding of just how a journalist should do their job.

And then you have the gall to spread Zaki's meme about the incompetent TV reporter.

The really sad part about all of this, AKPETMOM, is that there are people from outside of Alaska who read Phil and what his blogger friends write, an believe that it's the unvarnished truth.

And you're proud of that ?

That was a vicious lie Phil, and I've never once seen where you or your CNN source (Zaki no doubt) have apologized for it.

Apologize, yeah right.

A liberal apologize for something that they've done wrong, I don't think so.

That nutter John Zeigler has more credibility than you do.

anon @ 5:06,

I've never claimed to be a journalist since I left work at KLAM in Cordova to go back to commercial fishing, in early 1976. That's the last "journalism" job I've had.

When I revised the Oxdown post, I thought the information was correct. Later, I realized DZ had sent the email to me with additional text indicating he was contemplating a practical joke on a Crazy Woman fan site. From what I know, he never posted it there or anywhere.

People who believed what I posted learned that it turned out to be incorrect.

It never was "a vicious lie." And it still isn't. For all you or I know, the Crazy Woman may have been under some sort of Federal investigation then, and may be now.

"For all you or I know, the Crazy Woman may have been under some sort of Federal investigation then, and may be now."

That's a real stretch in trying to justify your rumormongering.

For all you or I know, anyone could be under some sort of Federal investigation.

Let me help you out Phil..."I posted a unsubstantiated rumor in a fit of palin paranoia. I was temporarily insane and will try to control my urges in the future".

It is a well known fact there was some investigating going on up there right before the quitter QUIT!

Have to wipe away the tears of laughter, but really...we need a third party that respects diversity in all it's forms, culturally and educationally, that stands up for the people of this country, and not be diverted by petty differences (to the glee and control of the corporatocracy.) hello, anyone out there?

Anonymous said...

No crystalwolf aka caligrl, it is NOT a well known fact that the Palin family was being investigated by law enforcement, that's just part of the lie that Phil, Zaki and their blogger friends perpetuated.

It even took an FBI spokesman here in Anchorage to issue a statement on a Saturday no less, to put this rumor to rest.

Liar, perhaps not, but Rumor Mongerer............

Fits you to a Tee

Look at the time on that post, SP hadn't even finished her resignation speech yet when you posted it.

In your desire to be there first with the big scoop, you ran with an unconfirmed rumor from an unreliable source.

You guys make that KTUU reporter look like Edward R. Murrow.

crystalwolf aka caligrl said...

All of you ocean of piss people scream about the FBI, LOLOLOLOL!
The IRS are FEDERAL agents, no one asked them, now did they???
Zaki said IRS/EMBEZZLEMENT not FBI!

The hag doesn't want to talk to them? I'd like to see her wire her own house...I'd throw in a pal of water just for entertainment.

Can't read? Seems you are right about that "stoopid" remark...*grinning*

comments sections seem to be a peculiar bowl of idiocy... i guess we can all just strive to not become part of the problem.
was reading the comment section after the ADN editorial about highway to highway, the other day. like the knik arm crossing, attracts a lot of emotional flame wars and little substance or fact finding in the commentary. one guy was saying, to hell with all the NIMBYs! just get the project done, and use all the tools available to ram it through, including imminent domain. [y'all have heard of that, right? it is domain that happens really soon.]
if one dares to suggest people should try to proofread before they post, they get really defensive. 'i come here for a discussion, not an english lesson.' but all you have here are your words...

"Looks like the same backwards Anglo crowd"

Ah, the subtle racism of the "progressive" Left

"All of you ocean of piss people scream about the FBI, LOLOLOLOL!"

Ah, the calm, reasoned discussion of the "progressive" Left

"For all you or I know, the Crazy Woman may have been under some sort of Federal investigation then, and may be now."

Ah, the desperate misogyny of the "progressive" Left.
