Ivan Moore here, checking in for the first of a series of columns running through the November 4 General election. Who’s doing what to who, how they’re doing it, whether it’s working and whether they should even bother …, that’s right, we’re talking about the races for Congress and Senate. The Anchorage Press and Frontiersman, KTUU Channel 2 and KENI 650 AM have banded together to have me to do a few polls through the election season.
Good luck, Ivan!
The Anchorage Press, revitalized recently, partially through the energetic activism of Brendan Joel Kelly, has started allowing comments at the bottoms of their articles. At the bottom of Moore's column, a commenter named Tucker24AK, wrote:
And Phil Munger and the rest of the Benson supporters, before you start saying it again - IVAN MORE DOES NOT WORK FOR ETHAN BERKOWITZ! He even told us who he's working for, right up front.
I don't recall having said that recently. Perhaps back in 2007, when Mr. Moore was working for Mr. Berkowitz? And I'll let Mr. Moore's statement at the lead to his active ActBlue page for Mr. Berkowitz stand on its own merits, too. Here's what Mr. Moore has posted (you can contribute to Ethan at the page, this very minute, if you so choose, Tucker....):
I’ve been a pollster in Alaska for nearly 20 years. In early 1996, Ethan Berkowitz and I were next door neighbors. He stopped me in the driveway and said he was thinking of running for the Alaska State House. The rest is history, and the two of us have been essentially inseparable ever since.image of Ivan Moore courtesy of the Anchorage Press
The race for Congress against Don Young is going to be a huge undertaking. Our esteemed Congressman is going to use every single last dollar of the $1.6 million he has in the bank to desperately hold on to Alaska’s seat in Congress. And we need to raise significant funds to take it back.
I’ll also tell you what I know to be true… Ethan has the character and integrity and capabilities to make a great Congressman. Take it from me… he can win.
AS PROMISED, here are some results from the last statewide survey we did… Don’s rating is 43.1% positive, 49.9% negative, 7.0% neutral. Ethan is winning by 5.5 points on the head-to-head… 51% to 45.5%. You heard it here first…
Please help Ethan today! Please dig deep and make a contribution to his campaign, and invest in Alaska’s future.
