Saturday Alaskan Progressive Blog Roundup - Part One - Taking Over Saturday

Shannyn Moore closes her radio programs with "Just a girl from Homer, painting Alaska blue, one stroke at a time." She's been doing that rather well for about five years now.

In Anchorage, at least, progressive bloggers Shannyn Moore and Jeanne Devon are painting Saturday blue, one hour at a time. Or two. Today, they'll have all but one hour covered from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.

At 1:00, Jeannie, aka AK Muckraker from The Mudflats, will host the award-winning national blog firedoglake's Saturday Book Salon. She will introduce Richard Kim and Betsy Reed, who just edited Going Rouge: Sarah Palin - an American Nightmare. They will all be there for at least two hours, answering questions about this important collection of essays critical of Palin.

Then, at 4:00 p.m, Moore Up North will show on KYES, Anchorage's Channel 5. Shannyn Moore's show is the real deal. Those of us who've understood Moore might do well on TV are enjoying watching Jeremy Lansman's supporters help Jeremy finally do on TV here what he might.

He's helped local endeavors before. 17 years ago, when there was an need to have Mat-Su Valley TV News on the air, Jeremy came through and showed Vincenzo's program on KYES, hosted by Fred James. I wrote the TV News jingle for it, later using the same melody for the opening theme of my 2nd Symphony. Vincenzo still owes me $500.00 for the TV jingle. I suppose he owes Jeremy a helluva a lot more.

This week Shannyn's panel will concentrate on fisheries issues.

Then, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Moore will be back at KBYR for her weekly call-in program.

One hour at a time.

Good jobs, Jeannie, Jeremy and Shannyn.

Kill your Television Phil, you'll thank me for that advice.

Remember the "Blackface" episode of "Valley News" ?

Bwahahahah, now THAT was funny, in a sick sort of way.

That was about the beginning of the end for old Vince's show if I remember correctly.

Whatever happened to KWMD, I heard that it's going off the air in a couple of weeks.
