Is There Such a Thing as a "Green" Airliner?

The 787?

One of my most fond memories is of waiting in line with Skippy Yates at the Renton Airport on the morning they rolled out the 727. We got to walk through the plane as a Boeing PR person told us what a marvelous revolution we would have in air transport to medium-sized cities, because of the airplane.

The aircraft wasn't marketed as "green." It was marketed as "efficient." For its day, it was.

Here's to you, Skippy!
