Saradise Lost - Book 2 - Chapter 25 -- Palin PAC Kickoff Weekend to Honor Only Person Who Killed More Americans than Hitler

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will be an honored guest or the possible speaker at this year's Alfalfa Club annual dinner. The sole purpose of the Alfalfa Club is to honor traitor and Confederate General Robert E. Lee, the only person to have killed more Americans than Adolf Hitler.

Here's New York Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams, on Palin's upcoming D.C.-Northern Virginia trip:

Traveling with one of her ladies-in-waiting and invited by a rich GOPnik, she'll be at Saturday's invite-only/political mandarins-only Alfalfa Club dinner in DC. This club began back aways to honor Gen. Robert E. Lee whom, you may recall, did a little something in the Civil War.

Did a little something in the Civil War? Like kill over a dozen of my relatives, for instance. Adams goes on:

Why it exists, I don't know.

The Club exists only to hold an annual banquet honoring the birthday of Civil War General Robert E. Lee, on January 7.

What it does, I don't know.

It perpetuates the myth that the traitor Robert E. Lee was a great man.

I only know it's too exclusive to include someone like me and is so high-powered that sitting US presidents attend, which means Obama should show.

There is nothing out there yet to indicate that President Obama will be at the Alfalfa Club dinner.

Palin is also kicking off the formation of her new political action committee, Sarahpac.com, which will be based in Northern Virginia, as is the huge Palin worship society, Team Sarah.

And meanwhile, according to Andrew Halcro's blog http://www.andrewhalcro.com/circling_up_the_musk_ox_where_art_thou , she's snubbing Alaska's mayors and community officials. Something is wrong with this picture.

No doubt she is going there to praise Gen. Lee for his position on secession and states rights.

Mind blowing.

Amazing that she ditches people in her own state that she should be serving and heads over to Virginia. More amazing is that her cult does not wise up to her not doing her job. Amazing. Simply amazing.

I just searched on the FEC site as suggested and just for comparison sake, also searched Lisa Murkowski. Her listing is much more detailed and the site had this information:
"Candidate listings may appear here as a result of draft committees or independent expenditure committees registering with the FEC. If no official documents of an authorized committee appear below, the individual identified here has taken no action to become a candidate."

Evidently a 'draft committee or independent expenditure committee' could have listed her name, but she herself has taken no action as far as registering herself as a candidate. Of course, that doesn't mean she doesn't have the intention, but just to be clear about what the FEC listing means, technically it could be someone else interested in promoting her.

there was a guy i used to debate with a lot in the comments at kyle hopkins' ADN politics blog [i don't go there anymore] -- a very republican fellow, but very astute. he noted that palin has performed exactly the same in every job she has had -- she loses interest after about a year and a half and starts coming in to the office less and less and phoning it in. those trying to get her elected president ought to consider this past performance coolly and objectively.

Clark,

John Stein and I discussed that in August 2007, when I was his guest for a week down in Sitka. John was Sarah's first political mentor.

He convinced her to go on to become a Wasilla City Council member when she tired of the Planning Commission. When she tired of the City Council, her new mentor, Rep. vic Kohring, convinced her to turn on John. She found that remarkably easy to do.

Come on Phil...

Robert E Lee's historical status depends on which side of the Mason Dixon line you're on...

Lest you forget...One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter...

I disagree. Had Lee's side won, slavery would have gone on into the 1880s or 1890s. The South would have expanded into Mexico, the North into Canada. The Germans would have dominated Europe, and Japan might have dominated China and the western Pacific.

There are no credible reports of Northern unit summarily butchering captured black troops. Several instances of Rebel troops doing that, though.

Fortunately, with the exception of the 1862 Richmond campaign, Lee wasn't a very good general. His Gettysburg leadership was 19th century generalship at its worst.

The Alfalfa Club was started along with raft of other similar organizations around DC at the time of the breakup of the 19th century GOP around the TR Bullmoose party debacle. Orgs like the Alf Club were used to create a totally segregated atmosphere in the DC area.

I'll be disgusted if President Obama attends. The Alfalfa Club is not the Gridiron.
