Saradise Lost - Book 4 - Chapter 36 - The 60 Minutes Palin Segment is Devastating

"It just kept happening."

That's Steve Schmidt, discussing Sarah Palin's penchant to lie, even when confronted with known facts that seriously contradicted information she had supplied the McCain campaign in late August and early September of 2008.

And it continues to happen.

She lies every fucking day. I've already written that I'm sicker than shit over having to keep being distracted by this person. I'm getting sicker about it every day.

You'd think the fact that she's the biggest of pathological liars amongst a breed noted for their lack of veracity - American politicians - might have sunk her by now.

You'd think the fact that she only can handle very closely controlled media appearances, and often screws up any unscripted confrontations might have sunk her by now.

You'd think that her Jerry Springer-friendly family ambience might have sunk her by now.

You'd think that her lack of any meaningful solutions to the piles and heaps of problems America faces might have sunk her by now.

You'd think the fact that she fucking quit her sworn job in a way that still remains totally bizarre and unanswered might have sunk her by now.

You'd think the fact that she's obviously not only a pathological liar, but a sleazy grifter might have sunk her by now.

At this point, to me, Palin's continuing relevance represents the most striking example in our ongoing media narrative of why we certainly are a civilization in precipitous decline.

This is one of the most telling quotes from the 60 Minute program:

"She cannot serve in the office [of vice president] in the way it's been done in the last few years. She would have to be a kind of "ceremonial" vice president, because they felt, from what they had observed, that she was mentally limited, and attitudinally limited in such a way, that she simply couldn't do the job in the way it'd been done."

EXACTLY! You tell 'em Phil. I'm sick of the crazy, lying bitch too, also. I'm glad Schmidt is finally speaking up, but I'm waiting for McCain's apology. He should be charged with TREASON.

I agree... except for the fact that I believe that she suffers from an axis 2 psychiatric problem... she "doesn't lie" because the "truth" is what she says it is. Another telling point (IMHO) is the remarks about her "eyes glazing over", sounds very much like what happens to some severely borderline personality disordered folks... when reality crashes in on them they MUST retreat from "it" or they risk a complete, albeit, temporary psychotic break. Hence her eyes glaze over and she loses contact with her surroundings as she retreats into herself. Not really good in a supposed leader!

With all this said, which legislator has the courage to introduce a bill to make sure Alaskans are never left abandoned again?

Reports are being made public that Palin's "head" wasn't in the right place and that she suffered some form of mental breakdown after the Couric interview. BUT, at the same time, she and others refused to consider Alaska's welfare and ignored AK Constitution Article 3, Section 9 , which states that the lite gov step in as governor in case of a governor's temporary absence.
The State of Alaska had absolutely no one at the helm to take care of its business...as emails show that higher ups were only concerned with the welfare of Palin's nantional campaign.
So, who will step up to do the right thing for Alaska during this legislative session? Anyone?

Agree with you Phil, but just a tiny quibble: are you sure the photo credit is correct? I thought that one was Shannyn's.

Phil and Andree,

I want to thank you and many other Alaskans for continuing to keep all of $arah's lies, deceptions and vengences on the front burner.
I have always been a registered Democrat and always voted Democratic. But that doesn't mean that I always assume the Republican is a bad person.
Except...in Palin's case. We all know that politicians lie and twist the truth for their convienence. But $arah has brought politics to a new low. I sincerely hope the bar doesn't get even lower. If you think about it, how can it? I thought Bush/Cheney, Nixon/Agnew and even BushI brought politics as low as it could get. But Palin is a whole nother story. It's more than politics.
Too bad we don't have an MSM that reports the news that has been researched for the real facts. Maybe, somehow, the whole Palin Saga will wake them up. I won't hold my breath waiting for it, but it has got to have some type of silver lining!
At the very least, it shone a spotlight on the great bloggers we have in our society now. And the very best of them, Progressive Alaska included, have done us a great service.
Thanks once again.

Agree with Andree, how come Lt. Gov was not put in charge? The RNC was running Alaska!
Who will step up and stop one or all of the shameful thing palin did to Alaska? Who?
Andree, Kim,Sondra, Diva have all tried to hold her accountable via ethics, big bust there since the board is beholden to her for a job.
When is one of the Leg. going to step up?

"precipitous decline"

Phil, sounds like you think "no child left behind" isn't going to be enough to stop the slide into anarchy.

Thanks for the blog. You make it clear the Palin isn't the problem, just a symptom.

Salon is reporting that Fox news is going to make her a contributor. She will be doing some shows occasionally and some special features. With her front an center as the face of the republican party, she will sink them. She is the only hope for the Democrats. Fox is buying her off to keep her from going 3rd party. This will be interesting.

(Susue here; I still can't log in to Google for some reason)
I think this should wake up EVERYBODY who hasn't caught on to Sarah Palin, but as the old saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Some people will not let their dream of who they think SP is wake up and see that she is not the honest, intelligent, friendly hockey Mom that they want her to be. If she actually was what they thought she was, well, I still wouldn't be impressed by her or ever vote for her, but there would at least be some reasonable explanation for those who support her.
"60 Minutes" is part of the MSM, so it is refreshing to see an interview like this come out there.

Get over it! She is no longer Alaska's Gov. Move on, resentment and anger will ruin your health.

So can a Pox News contributor have a PAC? What is happening with her "Alaska" Legal Fund? Where are the IRS and the Feds when you need them?

If people want a reasonable explanation of Sarah Palin and her followers Google ..... The Authoritarians ..... an online book by a Professor of Psychology from Canada.
This is the best book to read if you really want to understand how people like Sarah and her followers tick.

Anonymous 1:10 am: I looked up Axis II mental disorders, and then looked further at one of them - narcisistic personality disorder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder)

Looks like Palin's behavior fits the symptoms. Thank you.

Oh dear. it seems the more Obama's Hope And Change goes down the toilet, the more the bitter Leftists of Alaska are getting wee-weed up over Sarah Palin. Like spoilt, little children who can't get adults to pay any attention to them, they get increasingly whiney and petulant the longer the real world ignores them.

While the grown-ups are disgusted at Harry Reid, the failed "Stimulus" package, the farce that is Healthcare "reform", the bungling over National Security and the growing realization that we elected a hopelessly inexperienced, milk-toast, windbag as President, the bitter misogynists of Alaska gather 'round the cauldron and chant "Sarah is a bitch".

You're all becoming a national laughing stock...someone pass the popcorn !

"EXACTLY! You tell 'em Phil. I'm sick of the crazy, lying bitch too, also. I'm glad Schmidt is finally speaking up, but I'm waiting for McCain's apology. He should be charged with TREASON."

Yee-ha ! The voice of "progressive" reason...McCain should be charged with "treason" . You can't make this stuff up !!!

"she was mentally limited,"

OK if Sarah Palin is mentally limited , what does that make Joe Biden who she bested during the VP debate ? Don't believe me ? But Steve Schmidt (the source for 60 Minutes' attack on Palin) says so and you all believe what he says, don't ya ?

Please note anonymous above. Anytime a poster starts using the buzzword "weewee" it's a UrineSwimmer from the Sea of Pee.

Faux news is where all idiots go to die. It is NOT a springboard to success - it is an elephant graveyard.

The fact that SP is going to be competing with 20 year old bimbos might even prove fun. But she's done in politics. Losing a National election is not a gauge of success.

Good luck to FAUX and keep the thorazine handy. Missy NPD will meltdown if anyone asks her anything requiring a thought.

Ummm, are you calling our President a
UrineSwimmer ? Racist !!!

"Faux news is where all idiots go to die. It is NOT a springboard to success - it is an elephant graveyard."

Ha, ha ! Only a completely out-of-touch liberal dinosaur could make a comment like that. FOX made $700,000,000 profit last year...more than all the other stations combined. Their ratings are higher than all the other News shows put together. Their ratings continue to grow and soar amongst the under-40 demographic while CNN, MSNBC and ABC are sinking like stones. There are plenty of dying elephants amongst the leftist MSM and it's the wily FOX that is helping to finish them off !!
