Max Blumenthal Battles Joe Scarborough over "Conservatism"

This morning, on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," author and honorary Alaska blogger, Max Blumenthal, battled host Joe Scarborough over the difference between what Scarborough thinks is the legacy of recent American "conservatism," and what Blumenthal has uncovered to be what that "conservatism" has actually become, in terms of GOP power:

how can what has recently evolved as conservatism be considered a legacy? shouldn't the requirement for something to be a legacy be a bit more meaningful or does something become a legacy just because someone says so?

if there is no requirement, then the recent conservatism can only be viewed as a failure. abject failure.

Blumenthal is accurately stating the current condition of the Republican Party. Scarborough well states his own views, but his own views are not the views of the Republican Party. The Democrats need to press forward, use their majority, and stop wasting time trying to be bipartisan. The only Republicans who will compromise are not yet in office.

After Max's last appearance on Morning Joe, I could tell Scar had it out for him. Did anyone hear the incredulous sigh after the introduction of Max and his book? That is so rude to do to a guest on their program! Would they do that to Goldberg?

All Joe wanted to do was cut him off and do all the talking. Max was great at keeping his cool and standing toe to toe with him.

It seemed to me that Willie was trying to intimidate Max, sitting so closely, leaning forward and smile/smirking at him.

Scar is looser if he has to resort to these tactics in a debate. Go Max!

lol...I watched this as I was getting ready for work this morning. I loved it! I thought Max did one heck of a job, and he sure stood up to bully boy Scarborough. Like a previous poster, I watched their prior interaction, and yes...Joe did have it in for him.

Joe has been sounding a bit more reasonable of late, considering his Huffpo article, but I still would not trust him as far as I could throw him. Mika and Willy are just slimy as far as I am concerned. All they worry about is staying on Joe's good side. They are a disgrace.

Good for Max. He has been making the rounds and his is doing wonderfully. I bought 2 of his books...one for myself, and one for my sister.

It is SO difficult to talk calmly and rationally with people like Joe who call themselves Conservatives (they don't just want to be called Republicans, they want to be known as conservatives), and Max did a marvelous job at it. He stayed relatively cool and calm and stuck with the facts. He had a good comeback for each of Joe's comments, and stood up for himself when Joe kept wanting to cut him off. Max is my new hero!
BTW, what's the deal with all the other people sitting around Joe? Are they just props for the most part?
