The police in Minneapolis-St. Paul are being very heavy-handed as the opening day of the Republican National Convention seeps into its afternoon and evening hours. Here's a YouTube of prominent progressive journalist Amy Goodman from Democracy Now! being arrested for inciting a riot. 187 people, including several journalists from such media outlets as ABC, have been arrested so far today.

Hi Progressive Alaska. This is wesgpc from FDL. What is the story about Palin's role in the Wasilla rec center / land deal meass? I'm surpised that this story hasn't been added to the list of issues.
I heard a bit about the drama from my relatives over by Copper Center, but they are too far away to give many details. There was a story on it in Daily Kos, but also short on details. Did she play a big role in the problem?
I wish I still had relatives living in the Mat-Su valley -I'd like to hear the scoop. I don't know if I spent enough time in Alaska to not have misperceptions, but I do remember the wild Wasilla Republicans and their antics in borough politics. Most of them were very reactionary in practice, and rather casual about due diligence and legal nicities. From what I know about Palin, she is a bit different, but the land problem rings a bell from some of the stuff I saw from before her time, and it does not re-assure me -in addition to troopergate.

The Democracy NOW! website has posted an update on Amy Goodman's arrest. She "has been officially charged with obstruction of a legal process and interference with a 'peace officer.' according to the website.

Phil, I heard from a usually reliable source this morning that Amy Goodman was arrested while she was interviewing the Alaska GOP delegation. Do you know anything about that?
Nothing funnier than seeing a self hating Jew sitting on her self hating ass in jail. She isn't beautiful, glad she's there!
