Fungible. Lovely word. Check out Anne Korin on YouTube, she gave a good talk on C-SPAN. She loves the free market WAAAAY more than I do, but she can string thoughts together, which is more than I can say for anybody on Team McCain.
Well, there apparently is a fungible commodity. LOL.
Fungibility is the property of a good or a commodity whose individual units are capable of mutual substitution.
Examples of highly fungible commodities are crude oil, electricity, precious metals, and many currencies.
Fungibility has nothing to do with the ability to exchange one commodity for another. It has everything to do with exchanging one unit of a commodity with another unit of the same commodity.
Fungible is a word, yes... but somehow I don't believe it was a word that was part of Sarah Palin's vocabulary prior to August 29. It's certainly a departure from her usual g-dropping, folksy tenor.
What is up with you guys? Have Alaskans gone as stupid as the CNN presenter appears to think his audience is? Governor Palin's answer is a good one and very understandable. Perhaps you would be better off thinking about what Obama would mean for America. Or perhaps you have never heard of "ACORN", Tony Rezko, and others too numerous to mention. You guys should stop listening ONLY to what the left winf liberal pinko media tells you, and think a bit for yourselves! Eamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
Yes, fungible is a word. But, no Sarah Palin does not seem capable of speaking coherently, or even in complete sentences. "Of course it's a fungible commodity and they don't flag you know the molecules where it's going and where it's not."
Palin majored in communication and supposedly energy is her policy speciality and THAT is how she communicates. These are the two areas where she is supposed to be somewhat educated and knowledgeable, yet she is incapable of even making any sense. I am scared.
The warning about oil being fungible appeared in The Economist,http://www.economist.com/printedition/displaystory.cfm?Story_ID=3910260&CFID=54430080 One conclusion there "The conventional notion that stakes in oil fields add up to energy security no longer holds up: if there is an oil shock." One Sept 8 2008, the CBC program As It Happens had a five minute discussion of possible means of reducing Canadian consumer oil prices. Midway, the two professors discussed using Canadian oil to lower local prices, and it was stated that this had been tried and proven impossible. The program summary with audio links is at http://www.cbc.ca/radioshows/AS_IT_HAPPENS/20080908.shtml
So, Easmon in Ireland, it's the UK business pub The Economist that noted this, and the Canadian CBC that said it hadn't been possible to ameliorate by drilling.
Sarah should have had plenty of warning. Truth seems to be, thought, that no Republican would admit the truth of it; they NEED the issue to throw paper airplanes at democracts.

I am pretty speechless about this. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. What have you gotten yourself into?
You just must watch the tape to fully understand.
"A fungible commodity"? That is a made up word I believe. Oh, you just have to watch.
McCain comes down and over to her, almost as if ready to tack the mike. The audience didn't bat an eye, either. Just clapped.
This is so, so scary, America.
