Giocomo Gates with Dan McElrath at UAA Jazz Week

Giocomo Gates, one of the most renowned male jazz vocalists and scat singers working today, was the featured soloist  for the 2011 University of Alaska Anchorage Jazz Week.  I gave up an entire class session in my music appreciation class to him last spring, where he blew the class away with his singing and hilarious answers to great, sometimes bewildering questions from the students.

Last week, Anchorage jazz keyboard player and composer, Dan McElrath, sent me a link to the YouTube he made of one of his performances with Giacomo during the Jazz Week concert.
