I'm not at all sure these USC security officers should have arrested film maker John Ziegler on campus as he attempted to interview Katie Couric, where she was being honored with receipt of the Walter Cronkite Award.
He certainly is all over the right-wing media this morning, though, so I doubt he's unhappy.

Apparently Ziegler was NOT recognized media, was NOT in the designated media area and was accosting people entering the Walter Conkrite Media Awards. They should have arrested him for tresspassing - he was NOT invited to this invitational event.
USC is in a very dangerous part of L.A. My hat is off to those guards. You have no idea what sorts of violence they have to deal with on a daily basis. They are protecting celebs, students, children, etc., on the campus daily. Security is tight. Someone posing as "media" without bonafide credentials would not be welcome.
By the way, one right wing propaganda documentary does not a journalist make, IMHO.
U.S.C. is a private institution, not a public one. You can't just start filming there. The same thing would happen to Ziegler if he started filming at Pepperdine University in Malibu, another private institution (which is "Christian"). Pepperdine would throw him off, as it, too, is private property. Ziegler is an idiot not to know this. But then, a real journalist would know that, right?

Phillip, no. I used to teach there, so I know for a fact. Please look at their website: usc.edu. It is a private university.

Basically, he lied to get in there, surprise, surprise, then tried to ambush people and got thrown out.. and tried to make it look like he was the hero...
He was NEVER arrested.. merely detained for a while.
