Why Not More Freewaybloggers in Alaska?
We've had homemade political signs around Alaska since I've lived here. In the Mat-Su Valley, Scott Ogan and Vic Kohring rode the Newt Gingrich-led 1994 wave of crooks disguised as reformers on homemade signs. Ogan's were quite simple. They were little 11"x14" back window car signs that siply said in black letters on an orange background:
OGAN IS
PRO-GUN
Vic used the same sign year after year - "hardworking, conservative"
Our battle to take over Matanuska Electrical Association's board and steer the power utility co-op's direction toward renewable energy and a sensible development has brought about many homemade signs, too.
The closest I've seen to real freeway blogging is the graffiti on the overpass over the Glenn Highway that brings the Old Glenn onto the freeway near the Knik River. When you're going toward Anchorage, there's a graffiti in reddish orange that reads:
9-11 V
