Tim Smith to Play Saturday Evening at UAA

Anchorage Pianist Tim Smith will perform a program of Romantic Era masterpieces and recent adaptations from Chinese folk music in a recital Saturday evening.

Tim is an internationally recognized interpreter of the keyboard music of Franz Liszt. He played Liszt's Dante Sonata for my Thursday morning class, along with one of the adapted Chinese folk songs. He played exceptionally well, and got a big ovation from the 100 kids in the UAA recital hall.

He will be performing Saturday at 7:30 p.m, at the UAA Fine Arts Building recital hall.

Along with several works by Liszt, Smith will perform Alexander Scriabin's 9th Piano Sonata, the Black Mass Sonata. It is my favorite piano work by Scriabin.
