FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bill Scannell offered his resignation today as campaign advisor to Jake Metcalfe, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress. Metcalfe accepted the resignation.

According to Scannell, allegations that he was responsible for creating website links that were harmful to one of Metcalfe's opponents convinced him to resign.

"It appears these ridiculous allegations won't go away until I leap on my own sword,"

Scannell said. "I'm dedicated to getting Jake Metcalfe elected for the good of Alaska. If that takes my resignation, then so be it."

"Bill Scannell worked hard on my campaign and I appreciate all he did. It's now time for me to move on and discuss issues Alaskans really care about, and to focus on this race," said Jake Metcalfe.

This is the final comment the Metcalfe campaign will be making on this subject.

(no picture for this post - it wouldn't be pretty....)

Jake is starting to sound like Don Young.

As of this morning, the website at http://ethanberkowitz.blogspot.com/ is still up. The News Miner article implied this was one of the websites the Jake Metcalfe campaign put up. Also, the redirects at the other URLs are still up and working.

Why haven't the redirects and the website been taken down?

Jake, I've known you for 15 years. Even considered supporting you in this race despite your opportunistic big-footing Diane Benson this year after offering her little if any support two years ago when you were party chair. But this act, your unwillingness to take a strong stand and your minion's arrogance, on top of the Benson dis, is too much. Stick a fork in your glutes, man, you're political career is done -- and not just for this election, but for good.
