Back on May 4, the very first edition of Progressive Alaska Arts Sunday was devoted to art inspired by our dear Senator, Ted Stevens. Since then, mostly thanks to his recent rant about, as I gently put it.....
Ted Wants You to F*uck a Lot, and Have Lotsa Babies - If You're White.....Both of You
.....he's inspired new art!
That column, some of my subsequent ones, and Celtic Diva's columns at her blog, at Pam's House Blend, and at DailyKos, prompted one of the Pacific Northwest's premiere experts on racism and hate literature, Dave Neiwert, to both write a short essay for firedoglake, and to get a piece of new art out there on our oh, so senior Senator.
Not to be outdone, the genius behind Blue America, and host of Down With Tyranny! - Howie Klein - commissioned a new work of art about Ted in a new role I've created for him. Others think the Hulk role no longer fits him, so I've asked him to be portrayed as The Penguin, from the Batman series.
I know, I know - penguins are Antarctic, not Arctic, but - any suggestions?
So, what we've got here, is a story out there since Wednesday, being covered by several national blogs with combined readership in the high hundreds of thousands per day, getting information about our patron saint's fetish for racist, eliminationist literature - his recommendation of it to reporters and constituents, sitting next to an apparently clueless Sarah Palin is on YouTube - and the Alaska press hasn't even gone WTF? yet.
It'd be funny if it weren't so sad.

I think that polar bears are ferocious (my dad got stalked by one as a tourist on ice in Barrow in the 1970's.) Can you cut n' paste Ted on a polar bear? What about a whale? Or a puffin? Puffins are sweet.
Must we f*** a lot? What if you are a Republican and quit having sex once you got married? Is adoption OK?
I don't know of any polar bear or whale or puffin cartoon characters. His "Hulk" image was out of comic book lore, and I'm looking for a new one out of comic book lore for him. Just not a comic book hero.
