Still Life: The Last Lettuce and a Gift

Today I went on errands and pulled out of our post office box Geoffrey Dunn's movie, Calypso Dreams, winner of the Jamaican Film Festival's Best Caribbean Documentary Award for 2011.  Geoffrey sent it in part as thanks for helping get the word out on his book, The Lies of Sarah Palin, and for helping - against the tide in the Alaska blogosphere - to get the truth out on Joe McGinniss' The Rogue.   Thank you, Mr. Dunn.

I also pulled out the last of our lettuce from the garden.  These five heads survived six frosts.  We've been eating home-grown lettuce since April - parts of seven months.  That is a record for our garden.  Prince William Sound Shrimp Louis salad tonight.  That's a recipe Judy has been making for 35 years.
