Dr. Chris Sweeney Concert Sunday - Come Hear My Aleutian Sketches

The University of Alaska Anchorage Professor of Low Brass, Dr. Christopher Sweeney, will present a recital at the Fine Arts Building Recital Hall this Sunday, at 4:00 p.m.  He will be playing a variety of works.  Some will include students or faculty from the school of music.

He will be joined by Linn Weeda (principal trumpet and assistant director of the Anchorage Symphony, and director of the Anchorage Youth Symphony), Cheryl Pierce (principal horn of the Anchorage Opera) and Dean Epperson, in the Anchorage premiere of my work for trumpet, French horn, trombone and piano - Aleutian Sketches.  That work's four movements take glimpses into the past and present of one of Alaska's most wondrous areas.

The last sketch is called Volcano Woman II, and is an homage to the late Alaska master artisan and sculptor, John Hoover.

Please come join us, and support UAA's department of music.
