Catching Up With Erin & Hig - and Kids

Erin McKittrick, Bretwood Higman, and their two young kids, Katmai and Lituya, are coming close to the end of their two months "on ice," on or near Malaspina Glacier, above Alaska's Wild Coast.  The trip was scheduled to last from September 25th through November 15th.

On Saturday, I finished the first draft orchestration of my tone poem I've written about their trip between Yakutat Bay and Controller Bay, back in October and november 2007.  It is a commission from the Anchorage Youth Symphony, for their 2012 Spring Concert and European Tour.  It is called The Wild Coast.  Here's a screen shot of a page from the orchestral score:
