Shannyn responded to van Flein's cowardly threats with a press conference:
Part One:
Part Two:
Shannyn has written a short, reflective essay on the van Flein threat and other issues today at The Mudflats. One of the themes Moore addressed when responding to reporter questions at the 2009 press conference was the importance of Palin to the growth of new media in Alaska, and how we were benefitting from coverage, especially controversial coverage of Palin. Moore acknowledged the truth of that viewpoint, but went down the list of a number of issues she and other Alaska bloggers were covering.
Additionally, Moore noted that the higher profile Palin's national prominence had brought to Alaska issues was beneficial, in that the country was more aware of Alaska. She thanked Palin for this. Just yesterday, I covered the way Palin had lied about the two young women who discovered shredded or trashed documents surrounding Palin's CSU Stanislaus speech. No charity at all with Palin. Moore's stands out.
In her essay today, Moore spends little time on the quitter. Instead, she looks to the future:
The Founding Fathers fought hard for our Declaration of Independence. They didn’t wake up one morning and decide things were intolerable. They weren’t suddenly oppressed. Surprise! Let’s revolt against King George! They had to choose liberation and sacrifice. Don’t tell Lou Dobbs or Jan Brewer, but nine of the signers were immigrants. Their birth certificates were scripted on pages in their family Bibles.
Americans are oppressed. Americans are abused. Americans have been killed. Americans are owned by fossil fuels. It’s time to declare our independence and move to renewable energy.
Alaska bloggers and media have been covering the anniversary of Palin's abdication this past week. By and large, the coverage is fairly honest, if sometimes shallow or incomplete. But we're busy with many other important issues, particularly involving the environment, a subject that Alaska media has seldom taken seriously in a holistic way.
If you want dishonest coverage of the anniversary of Quitterday, go to the Sea of Pee. Here's part of the lead in an article they posted today:
[E]even though we blogged about it constantly, none of us was ever really convinced by the claim that Alaska based liberal progressive geriatric gardener Phil Munger was secretly fathering multiple love-children, with anonymous Alaska Bloggers Shannyn Moore, Jeanne Devon, Linda Kellen Biegel …. all funded by the Alaska Democratic Party, but hidden from the public eye in order to secretly turn a red state blue one person at a time.
There’s no doubting that there were babies….spawn of the devil bloggers we called them at the time.. heh…heh. How could we ever have known that their real names were Little Leafy Ears, Curly Shell-Like and old Wrinkly Lugs?
Weird humor that, eh? I think the writer may need to sign up for a humor writing course at Glenn Beck University. That's right - Glenn Beck University:
Here's Glenn, explaining this new institution of higher learning:
Reaction to this announcement from America's academic community is slow, but it is the 4th of July weekend. Those awful academics have fled their ivory towers for arugula festivals and such.
Bloggers are on to this, though. Here are some of the deluded comments from readers at the blog Pharyngula, where people are often critical of Palin's, uh, "world view":
Uh, I don't think those credits will transfer anywhere

In an earlier observation about self-education, Beck mocked publicly-funded schools and pointed out that he had taught himself for free. At the public library.....
Hey, they can offer degrees in revisionist history, climate seance, Evilution. The possibilities are endless!
Glen beck may be insane, but he's gonna make a crap load of money from this. He knows exactly what he's doing. The really insane people are those that buy into his crap.
I can prove that Glenn Beck is an evil leftist! Let's go to the chalkboard!

L - Liberalism

See! It's all connections! But we're still missing one letter. We're missing a Y.
OK, enough of that. Meanwhile, erin, hig, Katmai (and the next crew member) have finished their trek around the Usabelli Mines property.
Go read their story.
Good luck to Jeanne, Shannyn and Zach on their Prince William Sound quest for fresh oil from the Exxon Valdez. It won't be that hard to find.

BRAVO Shannyn!! What a wonderful, articulate woman she is - compared to SP!
Go Get Her Moore!!
I've watched recent documentaries that show that the oil is under rocks and that you also do not have to dig too hard to find it. Shocking to know after more than twenty years since the disaster.
It's no wonder that Sarah went after Shannyn (via her attack/lap dog/lawyer). Sarah is so jealous of other women, there's green coming out of her ears.
There is a rumor of a rumor that may not be a rumor and Obama has rumors or is that tumors...not sure but Sarah Palin is a big mean bully and I don't know why she wants to sue me but it's a rumor and rumor has it that the rumors are good for blogs but it's rumored I'm a giant lizard creature in human form and had sex with Keith Overyman but I'm not suing anyone over that rumor because it's a dramatic rumor and Jack London had sex with sled dogs but those are rumors too along with the fact I'm cross-eyed and I am sick of that rumor. Moore sounds like a cry baby that is actually wishing she had just kept her big mouth shut. It's all a rumor though...along with who Obama's real daddy is rumored to be.
Hmmm, is there Alaskan blooger outrage at how Obama has called out his detractors Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly. Seems like the same situation.
