Why Is Murkowski Running?

As Alaska's most ethical progressive blogger, Steve Aufrecht, observed earlier in the week, in a criticism of a 527 attack ad against Joe Miller I helped (in a very minor way) create, "This is Going To Be One Nasty, Tacky Election."

Sticking to one-liners, here's another observation, from a commenter at an article about the Murkowski announcement at Daily Kos:

She wants to fuck up Palin and the dude that called her a whore...

Think back on that. Miller tweeted this at about the time he caused a three-car collision in Fairbanks, the morning after the August GOP primary:

Payback time, Joe. Welcome to another three-car collision.

  1. That commenter at Kos is on point...Lisa is not about to give up her sizable campaign warchest, and she has absolutely nothing to lose.

    Payback is a bitch, Joe

  2. Are you suggesting that if the former governor had been NICE and JM shown some class that Lisa wouldn't be running? Then you Imply that win or lose, Lisa would have run anyway. Niether one of the mentioned Tea Party people have a nice or classy bone in their bodies.

  3. We have no idea whether, had Sarah been sweet and Miller a gentleman, Murkowski would not now be doing this, because Sarah wasn't nice and Joe was an asshole. Where did I imply Lisa might now be running anyway?

  4. So who will the progressive and like minded folks in Alaska support- McAdams or Murkowski?

  5. "Here's one Republican woman who won't quit on Alaska."

  6. frsbd,

How about "Scott McAdams, when you need an Adult in the Room."

  7. I am supporting McAdams unequivocally. Lisa has done nothing but sell out to corporate interests and party pressure, especially in the past few years. I'm done with her. And Miller, of course, is out of the question.

  8. I will definitely vote for Scott. I know some Dems who are scared as hell and will be voting for Lisa but that is a losing game all around. NOW IS THE TIME FOR DEMS TO STICK TOGETHER AND SNATCH THIS SEAT FROM THE DIVORCE LAWYER.!!!! Make your vote count.

  9. All I know is it is NOT Miller Time, not now, not ever, as in NEVER.

I'll take McAdams or Murkowski, and I'm a Yellow-Dog Democrat, have been all my life.

  11. They ARE intense. Noticed it 10 years ago at a cross-country ski meet.

  12. Lisa may be doing enough to split the vote and McAdams 'walks through the door' and badda, bing, AK has it's 2nd Dem in DC!!

  13. That works for me, Phil. Problem is, how many Alaska voters will actually vote for the only adult in the room?
