Eddie Burke's John Ziegler Show at the Fireweed

Between 275 and 290 people attended the highly publicized showing Thursday evening of conservative documentarian John Ziegler's Media Malpractice, at Anchorage's Fireweed Theater. The film's maker was there. He was gracious enough to give a full interview to Progressive Alaska, after the showing.

More on that later.

Here are some quick photos.

  2. Even thought you respect their privacy by blurring the license plate number on the vehicle.

It would be the right thing to do.

  3. Weird how that came out....so here it goes again.

Even though you hate those people, you should respect their privacy by blurring the license plate number on the vehicle.

It would be the right thing to do.

Last I checked too, free speech was still a right of ours.

Anon: hate to burst your bubble but...if the guy in the blk SUV was so very worried about his privacy why does he have a BIG SIGN ON HIS VEHICLE THANKING DICK CHENEY?
Kind of like wearing a "kick Me" sign???
And Phil never said he "hated" those people. You said it, your projecting.
And where does "free speech" turn into "hate speech"?
Not to mention Fabrication and outright lies?

Well, I have to give JZ some credit here...at least he dressed for the occasion, a suit and tie. Not shorts and sandals or inappropriate like others I could name.
Gotta give him credit for that.

  6. I cannot believe that people brought young children to that. That is more disgusting than any other aspect of the matter.

That is NOT a place for young children.

  9. isn't it creepy hanging with a bunch of right wingers like that? i found myself coincidentally at kincaid park in '04 when there was a fundraiser for lisa murkowski underway. the parking lot was jammed with all these giant trucks, each one with a ribbon magnet on the back... all these women with church dresses and pancake makeup... and just a few granola crunching commies like me, wandering through wondering WTF is going on here? it was surreal.

  10. Is this the nutcase that got almost arrested trying to disrupt Katie Couric's award ceremony and put up that doofus video trying to defend his detainment?

  13. yeah, like the idea that dick should keep speaking out for "us". who is "us"? the guy who made that sign is also a billionaire defense contractor and a leader of the neocon death cult? or cheney is just a regular guy?
i say, keep on talking, dick. it's damaging to the country but you are also splitting your party in two.

  14. You ventured forth into territory I did not have the energy to tread last night...good for you!!!!

(Besides, I figured those 200 people were rabid enough Palinistas that they probably would know who I was!)

I saw the interviews you and Dennis did with Zeigler...he's got them up on his Vimeo site:

Excellent job to both of you!

  15. "Even thought you respect their privacy by blurring the license plate number on the vehicle.

"It would be the right thing to do."
    --- surely you jest?

    ReplyDelete
  16. No jesting here.

Whether you agree with someone or not, whether you like that person or not, you respect their privacy.

Pretty simple concept if you ask me.

  17. Oh, Anonymous poster, I agree: I'm certain all those seven statements on that vehicle are positively screaming, "I demand my privacy!"

  18. You MUST see this short video of Ziegler on a dating show. He is a misongynist pig. Gee, I hope I am not invading Ziegler's privacy, lol.

  19. Who here has access to license plate info? Not me! I seriously doubt that anyone here is going to hack into Alaska's DMV site, find the person's address, and subsequently haunt their home.

It seems unlikely that the person whose vehicle is pictured above is going to suddenly decide to strip their vehicle of all of the identifying bumper stickers, magnets & home-made signage to ensure their anonymity now that their license plate number has been put on this site. Bottom line is you're either comfortable with the statement espoused via your vehicle advertising or you're not. I'm going to go waaaaaay out on a limb and say that this person is probably not averse to garnering attention.

Here's my license plate number: (Alaska) FFM 703. Big freaking deal, do with it what you will.

  21. ella,

PA ran the dating game video of Ziegler back in January.

Linda Kellen has it up now at CD's Blue Oasis.

According to BJK, Amanda Coyne interviewed Ziegler also yesterday, but the article isn't posted at the Dispatch yet.

  22. Thanks Anonymous @ 4:22!!!

I really like that, perhaps we could get Phil to change his photo to that one, in the interests of protecting the identity/privacy of that sensitive soul who drives the Cheneymobile.

  23. I hope you at least picked up a free Eddie Burke shirt to deface or have "fun" with later.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mary,

I didn't get a shirt from Eddie. I said give him a color picture of him I took at the Wasilla teabagger party on April 15th. I also gave him a CD of my orchestral music. I gave one to Ziegler too, in exchange for his DVD. Then he whined that it wasn't a fair trade. I agree, but - hey - I'm generous.

I'll see Eddie Saturday at the Teabaggers' Picnic at Wonderland March.

  25. And you could have made an Eddie Scarecrow for the garden with a Ziegler DVD face. That would really scare the birds.

  27. Burke is a Limbaugh wanna be but he lacks the showmanship to make it.

And that is all Limbaugh is, a showman who makes a bundle telling the nutjob what they want to hear.

I can't know, but I am beginning to suspect Limbaugh doesn't really believe half the crap he spouts. I really think he just knows this is a way to make a ton of money off the "great unwashed masses."

Jerry Springer does the same thing.

Just making money off the need of, as Gryphen calls them, the "low hanging fruit" to have their POV publicized and championed.

The Republican party--the "real" Republicans-- must be getting pretty tired of being represented by these extreme fundamentalist with little or no critical thinking skills.

Reminds me of Christopher Hitchen's remark, " I dont care waht you think; I care HOW you think."

In other words, disagree with me if you will, but put the work into it before you call it an "opinion;" give me a good argument and show me that you have a real point.

  28. That video of John Ziegler is on YouTube, FYI.

This easily demonstrates the *real* Ziegler. Does Sarah know? Bet she doesn't.
