Saradise Lost - Chapter Thirty-Six -- The Trashing of Anne Kilkenny

Judy and I were among the first recipients of Anne Kilkenny's e-mail last week. We got it early on September 2. Judy forwarded it as an e-mail attachment, as Anne asked:

You have my permission to forward this to your friends/email contacts with my name and email address attached...

but I didn't post it or link to sites that did, because:

please do not post it on any websites, as there are too many kooks out there...

Too many kooks out there, indeed. The Anchorage Daily News' Mat-Su Valley Bureau's S. J. Komarnitsky wrote an excellent story in the Sunday edition, about how Anne's e-mail went positively "viral" over the past five days. The comments of that story on the ADN web site are all over the place, from strongly supportive, to viciously hostile. Here are some examples of hostile statements:

Ive earned the right to call this hate spewing wench what I want.....

Why would her hometown of Wasilla love her so much. Oh I know cause we are all so dumb right.... This is just unreal how people are trying there best to distroy her. I MEAN YOUR BEST!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhhhhhhh Anne where were you all these years? WHERE WHERE!!! all of a sudden you come out of the woodwork.....

This crone thinks she gets to define what someone is? Classic jealous female.....

OK folks we now have a photo of what valley trash looks like and to top it all off she is a registered, yup you guessed it DUMBOC rat. Anne you are pathetic.....

I don't know Anne very well. But I have to respect her courage. A lot. It is just beginning to take shape, though.

Which brings up another, related subject. I asked a few local progressive bloggers today, "What have we learned this week that we didn't already know about Sarah Palin?" It mostly comes down to two obvious things. We had the first pinned by last Monday afternoon. The second has come out over the course of the week:

1) The McCain campaign vetted this candidate very poorly, very minimally.

2) People in the Valley, in Alaska aren't just afraid of the vindictiveness and petty revenge of the Sarah-bots, they're afraid of the vindictiveness and petty revenge of Sarah Palin herself.

Anyone who doesn't believe it's a woman's right to an abortion, due to rape or incest.

Has to have a few screws loose.

I'm voting for Obama.
